Philadelphia’s vibrant craft beer scene just got a little richer with the opening of Forest & Main Brewing Co.’s new taproom in Fishtown. Kang Haggerty Senior Counsel Aaron Peskin guided the brewery through legal and leasing matters, including negotiating the lease for the Frankford Avenue location. Peskin serves as outside general counsel to Forest & Main, providing strategic legal support as the brewery expands its footprint.

Founded in 2012 by Daniel Endicott and Gerard Olson, Forest & Main is celebrated for its English-style ales and farmhouse saisons. The Fishtown outpost brings their signature brews to a new audience, complemented by a food menu curated by James Beard-nominated chef Dane DeMarco of Haddonfield’s Gass & Main.

The new location has already earned praise from the Philadelphia press. Michael Klein of The Philadelphia Inquirer noted the “pretzels ‘bigger than your head’ and an opening beer list that includes a house lager, pilsner, and festbier on the side-pull Lukr faucet; Pigeon of the Peak British IPA, ESB, and Fair Winds Oat Mild on the Angram hand-pulls; plus others on tap including Last Crusade Hazy IPA, Silent Film West Coast IPA, Magic Mountains Pale Ale, and Dance Money American Stout. There will also be local cider, wines, and cocktails.” Jason Sheehan of Philadelphia Magazine called the opening “a big deal,” praising the intimate space, the neighborhood, and Forest & Main’s consistently excellent beers.

Peskin, a seasoned employment and commercial litigation attorney, has developed a niche practice supporting startup breweries across the region. His recent article on Law.com explores the evolving legal landscape for taprooms in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Kang Haggerty congratulates Forest & Main on their successful launch, continuing the law firm’s commitment to helping small businesses thrive in Philadelphia’s dynamic hospitality landscape.

Kang Haggerty member Kyle Garabedian is quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer article by reporter Abraham Gutman, on a federal lawsuit claiming that notices of traffic violations captured on speed and red-light cameras in Philadelphia mislead car owners, and that the programs offer little-to-no path for drivers to dispute the tickets.

The class-action complaint, filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania last week against Philadelphia, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, the Philadelphia Parking Authority, and PPA officials, takes issue with the wording of violation notices because the notices say the registered owner of the car is liable to pay the fine. “Noticeably absent” from the notices, the lawsuit says, is that car owners can dispute a citation if they didn’t drive the car.

“People don’t even know that they have a defense because the tickets are misleading,” said Kyle Garabedian, an attorney with Kang Haggerty who represents the car owners.

The due process violations alleged in the complaint raise concerns that the programs issue misleading tickets as a way to “generate a massive amount of money,” Garabedian said.

Kang Haggerty LLC recently announced the addition of attorneys from the Marlton, New Jersey-based Ferrara Law Group, including its founding partners, Ralph Ferrara and Aaron Peskin, along with associate Joshua Hirshey.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ralph, Aaron, and Josh to the firm,” said Edward T. Kang, Managing Member of Kang Haggerty. “Their impressive track record and shared commitment to excellence align perfectly with our firm’s values. Together, we will continue to deliver the highest quality of legal services to our clients, fostering growth and success.”

Ferrara’s focus is on general litigation matters with a particular emphasis on construction and complex commercial litigation. He has extensive trial experience, having handled more than 200 trials, hearings and arbitrations combined. Before he founded the Ferrara Law Group, he started and managed the Princeton, NJ office of Richardson & Patel, was Managing Partner of the Cherry Hill, NJ office of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, chaired Wolf Block’s Construction Industry Group, and led the Litigation Department and was on the executive committee at Flaster Greenberg.

“It is exciting to be joining an established and growing law firm in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey market that will enable our clients to access additional practice groups, technology, staff, and resources to better serve them,” said Ferrara.

Before co-founding the Ferrara Law Group, Peskin practiced in the commercial litigation and e-discovery groups of Drinker Biddle & Reath, Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell& Hippel, and Richardson & Patel. He has experience in a wide variety of complex matters including commercial litigation, consumer rights class actions, telecommunications, product liability, trademark, construction, and environmental. He also has a niche practice representing breweries in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area. His rapidly growing employment practice represents both employers and employees in a wide variety of matters ranging from employment and severance agreements to employment litigation under state and federal statutes.

Hirshey started his legal career as a clerk for (former) Justice Russell M. Nigro of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, before joining DLA Piper as an associate in the Litigation Practice Group, gaining significant experience in manufacturing, trucking and construction law. Josh then gained in-depth experience as in-house counsel to multiple businesses while continuing his work as a litigator.

Kang Haggerty, established in 2013, now has grown to 21 attorneys, with offices in Philadelphia, PA and Marlton, NJ.
