{"id":3374,"date":"2014-04-25T11:41:25","date_gmt":"2014-04-25T15:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.khflaw.com\/?p=3374"},"modified":"2020-09-23T21:56:12","modified_gmt":"2020-09-24T01:56:12","slug":"walls-came-tumbling-economic-loss-doctrine-uncovered","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.khflaw.com\/news\/walls-came-tumbling-economic-loss-doctrine-uncovered\/","title":{"rendered":"The Walls Come Tumbling Down: The Economic Loss Doctrine Uncovered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The economic loss doctrine prevents a plaintiff from recovering purely economic losses via a tort action (i.e., a negligence claim) in the absence of personal injury or damage to \u201cother property.\u201d\u00a0 One court has described the economic loss doctrine as \u201cprohibit[ing] plaintiffs from recovering in tort economic losses to which their entitlement flows only from a contract.\u201d\u00a0 <i>Duquesne Light Co. v. Westinghouse Elec.
