Suspends Elective Medical Procedures as of Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-314 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.khflaw.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Patient-and-nurse-1024x576-1.png\" alt=\"Nurse holding patient file and on the phone net to patient in hospital bed with cast on foot\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/>On Monday March 23, 2020 Governor Murphy issued Executive Order 109 introducing additional preventive measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 and simultaneously seeks assistance from the private healthcare community to increase the stock of PPE.<\/p>\n<p>By Friday, March 27th at 5:00 p.m., all medical or dental \u201celective\u201d surgeries and \u201celective\u201d invasive procedures performed on adults to be suspended. \u00a0An \u201celective\u201d or invasive procedure is defined as \u201cany surgery or invasive procedure that can be delayed without undue risk to the current or future heath of the patient as determined by the patient\u2019s treating physician or dentist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare providers must consider post-operation complications when determining which operations qualify as \u201celective\u201d and must coordinate post-operation care with ambulatory surgery centers or hospitals that have the resources to address post-operation complications. \u00a0To that end, each hospital or ambulatory surgery center is required to establish written guidelines to ensure compliance and provide a copy to the Department of Health. \u00a0All elective surgeries or invasive procedures already scheduled after 5:00 pm on Friday March 27, 2020 are to be cancelled or postponed indefinitely, and facilities must notify patients who will be affected by EO-109.<\/p>\n<div class=\"read_more_link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.khflaw.com\/news\/covid-19-updates-n-j-suspends-elective-medical-procedures-as-of-friday\/\"  title=\"Continue Reading COVID-19 UPDATES: N.J.
